Portland, Me., Aug. 8 - Robert Keith Furnival, aged 30, assistant cashier of the United States Trust Company of this city, and Ralph H. Aliff, aged 26, cashier of the local offices of the Grand Trunk Railway, were drowned to-day by the capsizing of a canoe at Bryant's Pond, on the Grand Trunk Railway, sixty miles from this city. James Furnival, brother of one of the victims, swam ashore.
Aliff was passing his vacation at Bryant's Pond and the Furnival brothers went there yesterday to spend Sunday with him. The latter are sons of James C. Furnival of Montreal. Neither of the victims was married.
