John Pearson

(Abt 1776 - )

I believe that Nicholas and Esther PEARSON had a son John, based on the following information. A 17 Aug 1809 Petition of John Pierson states that he has 165 acres on Shepody River, with "a great proportion of sunken waste meadow." He asks for "his lines to be extended westward on vacant lands, so as to include in the whole 400 acres." In same petition, Jeremiah Starret "is desirous of making a settlement upon a Lot of Back Lands near Cape Enrage, formerly surveyed to one Davison, but abandoned by him." The amount is 200 acres. Geo. Sproule states "The circumstances stated by John Pierson are correct. The ? He applys for is vacant ~ he is a respectable man. Son to one of the English settlers from Durham. The lot applied for by Starret is abandoned and Vacant. He is said to be an industrious young man." John would have been born after the PEARSONs came to Canada in 1774. Assuming he was at least 20 when making the above petition, he would have been born before 1780.

FHL film 859,903 has Probate record books from Westmorland, New Brunswick, Probate Court. Item 3 covers 1839-1842.
A record dated 20 Dec 1839 for John Pearson, late of Harvey, indicates he died intestate. The administrator was Ephraim Pearson.
