Henry Green NEWMAN

Henry Green Newman was a Methodist minister, a Constable and a Justice of the Peace from Penrod in Muhlenberg County. He was the third child and first son of Isaac and Nancy Jane Unsell Newman. He was born May 28, 1830, and was known to still be living after 1910, although a death date has not been learned.
At the age of 23 he married Margaret A. Wood on March 24, 1853. She was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Williams Wood of near present-day Dunmor. Henry and Margaret were the parents of five children, and have many descendants who still reside in the Penrod area. Their children were: Thomas A., who died young; Isaac R., Mary E., James W., who died young; and Alexander E.
Henry and Margaret were listed in the 1900 census at Penrod, but before 1910, Margaret died. In 1910, Henry Green Newman was living in the household of his daughter Mary E. Howes at Penrod. Also in the home was Henry's sister, Eliza, who was unmarried.

Hattie had three children, Lula, who married Ross Cornelius and lives in Hendersonville, Tenn.; Mabel, married Ross Cornelius and lives in Hendersonville, Tenn.; Mabel married Anderson Mallory, is now almost 83 years old and living at Penrod; and James, a minister, married Bernice Hudnall of Twin Tunnels. Annie Howes married Paul Johnson. Among he children were Gertrude, Ruby, Goldie, and Foster.
