Individual Details
Stanley Edward SCOTT
(22 May 1931 - 20 Apr 1964)
[young.FTW]
Was considered to be the wild one of the family, at a young age he would run across the top of the barn. Went to school in Ord Bend and then to Hamilton High, where he drove the fastest, junkiest looking car in the county, so said Danie Paul Calif Hwy Patrolman who chased Stanley many times and never caught him.
In 1950 he joined the Army and went into the 101st Airborne, after which he was first sent to the Atomic Proving Grounds where he was exposed to an Atomic Bomb test (5 miles from ground zero) in a test to check the reaction to the explosion and the radiation from it.
He was then sent to the Korean War where he was seriously wounded at a place called Pork Chop Hill.
After recovering from his many wounds and being labeled as disabled by the Army, he joined the Calif Highway Patrol. He also became pilot and took great pleasure in taking his family up for their first airplane rides including his younger brother, me, for what I considered was the most exciting thrill I ever had.
He was best remembered even today being the first documented reliable source in Calif of a UFO encounter in Tehama Co. He and his partner were interviewed by local tv and radio and the story was carried nationally. He was investigated by the USAF and found to be very reliable in his description and accounting of the event even though the USAF tried to find other more acceptable explanations for the event.
