The Will of George Merchant
George Merchant of the parish of Braughin in the county of Hertford, Farmer, being somewhat indisposed of body but of sound disposing mind, memory and understanding, blessed be God, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following.
I give and devise all that my moiety, or half part, of a freehold messuage or tenement containing four dwellings as the same, are situated and being at Daysell in the parish of Braughin in the said county of Hertford, as the same is now in the Tenure or Occupation of Thomas Miles and others unto my beloved wife Ann Merchant and to her Heirs and assigns forever together.
Also with all that mority, or half part of two acres and a half of freehold arable land lying in Marble Field in the said parish of Braughin, now in my own occupation, all which moiety or half part of the said land I also give and devise unto my said beloving wife Ann Merchant and to her Heirs and assigns forever.
I also give and bequeath all my personal estate, goods, chattle, farming, stock both live and dead and all my ready monies and all other my personal estate whatever I give and bequeath all the same unto my said beloved wife Ann Merchant for her sole use and property.
Lastly thereby, sonstitute and appoint my said beloved wife, Ann, executor and my son, Thomas Merchant, executor joinly together to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixth day of May in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred and ninety five.
George Mershant (SS) Signed, sealed, published and declared by the within George Merchant the testatrix to be his last will and testament who in his presence and at his request and in the prsence of each other have subscribed as witnesses hereunto.
