Hendrick Jochemsen Schoonmaker (1), b. Hamburg, Germany, to America in 1654 in the military service of the Dutch West India Co., an innholder at Ft. Orange. He m. at Albany 1657 Eliza (Elsie) Janse (n), wodow of Adriaen Petersen (Van Alcmaer). After Hendrick's death in Kingston, Ulster Co., 1681, his widow m 26 Sep 1684, Cornelius Barentsen Slecht. Elsie was d/o Jan Jansen Van Breestde, b. c. 1596 in Bredstedt, Prussia, & Engeltje Jans b. New Amsterdam, NY.
