Richterswil 4 Dec 1940 to Anna Mary Elizabeth Huber Hafen ... Sister Amalie is now in Uster in an old folks home. She says it is a good place, well run, and so she has no worries. She always asks about you. Will send your letters to her. She is 71 years old, Elisa will be 74 in June, 1867 and I Jacob was born 3 Apr 1868. So we are not far apart. I have received a pension for 35 years from the railroad.
Thank God Elisa and I have a worry free live and are so happy over our good heath.

letter from Elisa in Richterswil, 3 Jun 1928: .... We are alone now. 3 are married. They live not far away, you would have room with us. We have a 5 room apartment on the Zurich Sea.It is hot weather now but the spring was beautiful. Our cherries are ripe now and there are many apples.
