!Swaim book - Barent was imprisoned on the infamous British Prison Ship "Jersey" anchored off the Brooklyn shore during the Revolution. Military prisoners and civilians who were openly against the King were imprisoned on this ship, with many dying because of the treatment they received. Barent was a relativly old man and he apparently was released because he was sick and old. On his way home on Staten Island, he stopped at the home of this son-in-law, Ed. Jones and died during the night at the age of 70 years. A Patriot!
