Marriage
The Will of Thomas DENT named his stepdaughter-in-law as Elizabeth WITHERS (the wife of Keene WITHERS II) and refers to her deceased natural father, William CAVE. Elizabeth CAVE was the longest surviving child of William CAVE (ABT 1700 - 1742, Stafford County, Virginia, British North America) and Ann TRAVERS. Her siblings were: David CAVE (died after 12 September 1748,George H. S. King: The Register of Overwharton Parish: "John CAVE's will was dated August 6, 1714 and proved in 1721 at Stafford County Court; it was recorded in the now lost Will Book "K," page 2. He devised 200 acres of land on Axton's Run and adjoining the property of John Gowry and Giles TRAVERS to his son John CAVE but he "died so that the above mentioned land fell and reverted to" David CAVE of Orange County who was joined by his wife Sarah in conveying the said property to Keene WITHERS of Hamilton Parish, Prince William County, on September 12, 1748.
Keene Withers (1728-1756) was the son of James Withers (1680-1746) and Elizabeth Keene, his wife; the name is incorrently rendered Cain Withers. His wife, nee Elizabeth Cave, was the daughter of William Cave and Ann Travers, his wife, daughter of Giles Travers, Gentleman, (16 -1717) an early settler on Potomac Creek. She married secondly in 1758 Andrew Edwards (1725-1788), widower, and thridly Thomas Walker.

(3) in 1758 to Elizabeth (Cave) Withers, daughter of William Cave who died testate in Stafford County in 1742 and widow of Keene Withers (1728-1756) by whom she had five children. Andrew and Elizabeth (Cave) Edwards on only child, Andrew Neale Monister Edwards who married on October 13, 1803 in King George County, Sally Mason. Elizabeth (Cave) Withers Edwards, widow, married thirdly Thomas Walker. The will of Andrew Edwards was dated July 4, 1788 and proved July 14, 1788; he mentions his wife Elizabeth and h;er son Andree N M Edwards, son Travers Edwards; and daughters Margaret wife of Robert Lowry, Mary wife of Alvin Mountjoy, Sarah and anna Edwards.Virginia Genealogist: p 107

He was a grandson of the Rev John Waugh (1630-1706) and consequently a first cousin of Mercer's wife Catherine Mason. He married, 1740, Betty (Brittingham) French, daughter of Nathaniel Brittingham of Accomac County and widow of Hugh French, Jr. She married second, 1751, Andrew Edwards (died 1788) who married in 1758 Elizabeth (Cave) Withers
