BATCHTOWN- Kay Frances Stassi, 76, died unexpectedly at 5:00 a.m., Thursday, November 27, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Dow on Jan. 15, 1938, one of three daughters born to the late Charles "Doc" and Athalene (McGiffen) Goheen. Kay was a beautician in the area for many years, working in numerous salons as well as operating her own for a period of time. She loved to cook and had a huge heart that made everyone feel special, and always had an "open door" policy at her home for anyone that needed a meal or a place to stay or hang out. She married Bill Stassi on Dec. 30, 1982 in Wood River, and together they have shared nearly 32 wonderful years together. They made their home in Wood River for many years, until retiring to their home in Batchtown. Surviving are her husband, Bill Stassi of Batchtown; four sons & a daughter in law, Charles R. Clymer of Dow, Kurt & Kathy Oberlander of Bethalto, Brian Oberlander of Dow, and Randy Hanks of Alton; three stepdaughters and their spouses, Theresa & Jeff Sheets of East Alton, Jeannie Stassi of Wood River and Angie Stassi of East Alton; two grandsons, six step grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a sister, Charlene Morgan of Jerseyville; a brother in law, James Halford of Godfrey; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Stacey Kaylene Oberlander; a grandson, Brandon Littleton; a step grandson, Kyle David Sheets; a sister, Dorothy "Tiny" Halford; and a brother in law, George Morgan. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday at the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville, with Rev. Larry Hayes officiating.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the Riverbend Humane Society in Jerseyville.Endnotes
