n 27th ult; Emanuel Cave. one of the pioneers died in Laural, township, Hocking county, aged 88 years, In 1805 he came with his father's famiy to Perry township, Hocking county annd moved to Kentucky where he married and remained until 1816, when he returned to Perry township, Hocking county and in that neighborhood remained until his death. He was the first member of the Methodist Church, in hat part of Hocking county and with three other families established the first Methodist class, near south Perry, becoming class leader and exhorter positions which he held for twenty-five years, and during that time his house was a meeting house. About thirty-five years ago he left the M E church and united with the United Brethern. He was twice married and his children grandchildren and great grandchildren and those of the fourth generation number over two hundred, His oldest son has been a minister for over 35 years.
