Death
Son of Benjamin Cave (born 1703 in Windsor, England; died Orange county, Virginia 1762) & of Hannah Bledsoe (1711 Spotsylvania county, Virginia; 1769 Orange county, Virginia.) They were married 1720 in Orange county.Richard was one of the pioneer preachers of the Bluegrass, having accepted this calling in upper Spotsylvania County, VA. He was an instrumental part of the Traveling Church.
After preaching five years in Orange county he left Virginia for the wilderness of Kentucky. There he & his brother-in-law, Lewis Craig, joined his brother, William Cave. Richard & Lewis Craig settled in Gerrard county & affiliated with Gilbert's Creek Church. In the spring of 1785 he moved to Woodford county, joining Clear Creek Church. He was regarded as a man of piety & great usefulness.

Probate:
First the plantation and land on which I now live six negroes named David Jacob Judy Moose Isabella Francis , five head of horses to wiet to choise two work horses my wifes riding mare Bonny, young Bonny and young mare Jenny also the farming utensiles and wagon half of the stock cattle, hogs and sheep, all the household and kitchen furniture after my death to my son John after my death the trach of land on which I live to him and his heirs after my desease to have three negroes William Lewis and little venus slao Isabella at my wifes death. My son John is to have no other part of my estate no heretofor given to my children or disposes by my will especially is to be divided amoungest my children, and the children of my daughter Mary Rice are to be entitld to my one share of prperty left to my beloved wife, the other land to be dived to my son Richard I also give my negro named Rachel. etc
