A Sad Death -On Thursday morning of this week the relatives of John P. Myers received notice, of his death. His illness for several weeks had been a source of alarm to his attending physicians, Drs. Dale and Redling, thus we are again reminded while in tire midst, of life we are in death, which is doubly sad when it lays its bllighting, hand on one at such it promising period in life as was John Myer when the bloom faded and the spirit took its flight to Him who gave it. He was a Sophomore at Franklin and Marshall college, Lancaster, where he was loved and respected by tire faculty andi his school mates, among whom he was laying it good foundation for a thorough education, be possessed of a clear mind, polished manners and superior talents. He had m magnificent start towards a life in tire ministry to which lie was aiming;. Early in his life he connected himself with the Reformed church, so it can he said he was reared in the church. This is a comfort to his grief stricken parents, to know that he was faithful where the Lord had placed him. He died at the home of his parents Wesley and Lizzie Myers, in Boalsburg. where, he was spending his holiday vacation with the family, when he was blighted with erysipelas, coupled with rheumatism and heart trouble. Aged 22 years, 2 months and 26 days. Interment was made at 10 o'clock on the 15th inst in the Boalsburg cemetery and was largely attended. Rev. A. A.. Black conducted the services, taking for his text, "Remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth." Rev. Isenberg paid a tribute to the young student who had the confidence and respect of the entire school and faculty Dr. J. S. Stahr, Pres of Franklin and Marshall college, substantiated the remarks already made, and added more impressiveness. so that I he most doubtful was led to pause and think. The remains rested at tire pulpit in the Reform church and bedecked with exquisite floral offering, part its the gift of his classmates and part by the C. E. society. The organist Prof. Meyers rendered touching music, especially the anthem, ".Shouting his Praises." After the services the entire audience filed past t he remains to drop a tear of sympathy, when the body was taken to charge by his classmates, Viz: C. S. Lemback, G.. W. Stine, G. P. Reten. S. V. Hosterman, J. R. Apondyck, H. R. Koirder, J. H. Keller We laid the body beneath the clods of the valley forever, but not dead Dr. J. S. Stahr pronounced tile benediction and the impressive service was over.
Burial
Interment was made at 10 oclock on the 15th in the Boalsburg Cemetery.. Rev. A. A. Black conducted the services.Endnotes
