Miss Whitbeck was married to Charles A Goheen founder of the Honeoye Falls Gazette. He had served in the Civil War, as lieutenant of the Eighth New York Cavalry. Soon after his return and their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Goheen went to live in Virginia. Later they returned to Western New York and went to live in Lima. Mr. Goheen was connected with the Lima Recorder when the late A Tiffany Norton, a brother-in-law of Mrs. Goheen was editor. After a time Mr. Goheen founded the Honeoye Fall Gazette. After his death many years ago, the paper was taken over by a son, Arthur.
The younger man left Honeoye Falls to become connected with the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, of which he became city editor. At the time of his death he was on the old Post Express. Mrs Goheen came to Rochester with her son, and had continued to live here ...
Although Mrs Goheen never wrote for publication she was a correspondent of such charm that her letters were a delight to her friends.
