James G. Goheen, 76, of New Bethlehem, died at 4:33 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 1996, in Jefferson Manor Health Center in Brookville, following a lengthy illness.
Born January 20, 1920, in Porter Township, Clarion County, he was a son of Joseph Mateer Goheen and Selma Wiant Goheen.
He was married November 13, 1943, to the former Miriam Shilling, who survives.
Mr. Goheen was employed for 25 years at Crawford Furniture in New Bethlehem, retiring in 1982.
He was a Protestant and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and Fraternal Order of Eagles in New Bethlehem.
Mr. Goheen enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Debra Goheen of Distant; two grandchildren, Jamie Goheen and Bobby Goheen of Distant; one brother, Bertrand "Dick" Goheen of RD 2 New Bethlehem.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Goheen was preceded in death by three sisters, Olive Swartfager, Agnes Wilson and an infant; and a brother Dale Goheen.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 1996, in the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. The Rev. James Swogger officiated.
Interment followed in Leatherwood Cemetery.
