Military
George and his brother David enlisted in the company A of the 105th Regiment in Jefferson County that is just east of Clarion County. They defended the City of Washington until March of 1862 when they were transferred to Virginia and the thick of the battle. First to Yorktown then to Williamsburg, Battle of Fair Oaks, Seven Pines Seven Days. And then to the battles leading up to Bull Run where George was wounded in August. George was mustered out on 10 February 1863 after treatment for his wounds. His brother went on and was wounded at Gettysburg on 2 July 1864.Death
