James Samuel Shortle, MD, 61, a native of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday. He is survived by: his wife, Parrie V. Shortle, Albuquerque; two daughters, Miss Sarah V. Shortle, Albuquerque, and Mrs Parrie Pleyte, Chelan, Washington, two sons, George S. Shortle, Tucumcari, NM and James S Shortle, Albuquerque. Three sisters, Mrs Sarah Blue and Mrs Margaret Botts, both of Albuquerque, and Mrs, Alice Travis, Arlington, Va; and five grandchildren, Allen M Pleyte, Kristen A Pleyte and Jay M. Playte, all of Chelan, Washington and Arlena D. Shortle and Cody S. Shortle, both of Tucumcari, NM. He was a member of Rotary International with the local chapter being founded by his father, Dr. Abraham Given Shortle. He was also a member of the American Medical Association N.M. Association of Local Obstesrtics and Gynocology the Bernalillo County Medical Association the American Board of Obstrectics and Gynocology American College of Obstrestics and Gynocology. He was a clinical assistant professor at UNM and was on the staff of St Joseph Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital Center and Bataan Hospital. Private cremation services have been held Strong-Thorne, 1100 Coal SE was in charge of arrangements. In Lue of flowers, donations may be made to the Presidential Scholarship Fund of UNM.Endnotes
