Henry M Hosterman died 21 Jul 1940, born 19 Nov 1867, retired school teacher and office work, spouse Mary E Fause, Informant Mary S Hosterman. father Adam H Hosterman, mother Susan Musser. Burial BoalsburgNote
Henry M Hosterman was born Nov. 19, 1867, at Old Fort, the son of Adam H and Susan M Hosterman. The father , Adam H Hosterman, was born Fidler, Pa., the son of John Hosterman who came from Bavarian European stock. His wife, Mary E Hosterman, was the daughter of Christian and Eliza Fouse and was born at Alexandria, Pa., Hundingdon County, in 1873.In 1876 his father, Adam M Hosterman, moved to Boalsburg on the present site where Mr. Hosterman now lives. As a young man Mr Hosterman worked on his father's farm, and assisted the neighboring farmers, and during winter months beginning in 1885 taught school at various places in the county until 1927; the last six years teaching at Boalsburg.
When a young man he attended the Williamsport Business College and the Central State Normal School at Lock Haven, graduating from the latter school in 1891. It might be said with great credit to Mr Hosterman that he worked his way through both these schools, which not only evidenced his great ambition, but an exemplification of that desire to overcome obstacles that was so manifest in his later life.
During the interim of these years he was employed by the J C Blair & Company, manufacturing stationers at Huntingdon, Pa., at various periods between 1896 and 1902 in the capacity of shipping clerk. In 927 he accepted a positron with the Pennsylvania State College at State College, Pa., as auditor in the purchasing department, and remained in that important position until 1937 at which time he retired from that position. The following November he was elected to the important office of County Auditor, with offices at Bellefonte, Pa., which position he still retains with confidence and respect of those who placed him.
Mr Hosterman has been a very active ember of the Reformed Church at Boalsburg for many years, serving as deacon, elder, and Sunday school superintendent and during most of these years has been the highly honored, and efficient teacher of the Ladies Bible Class of the Sunday School.
