Bennie Lee Docekal, 87, of Pottsville, Arkansas, died Monday, December 17, 2018, at Stella Manor Nursing Home in Russellville, Arkansas. The son of William and Elsie (Jones) Docekal, he was born September 24, 1931, in Bear Creek, Arkansas. He earned a Batchelor’s Degree from Arkansas Tech University; and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Central Arkansas. He was an educator & administrator, having served as Superintendent for the Pottsville School District. He was a member of the Pope County Retired Teacher's Association; Pope County Senior Adult Activity Center; Department of Veterans Affairs; and the Arkansas Teacher's Retirement System. Bennie was a member of the Bell's Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, lawn & garden care, making music with his guitar, singing, and especially investing hours as a student of the Bible.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Bonny Jean Docekal; two brothers, Gary Docekal and Charles Docekal. He is survived by his son, Timothy Docekal; his daughter, Tina Docekal (Harold Appukuttan); a nephew, Danny Docekal; four nieces, Carolee Lunsford, Debra Sue Docekal, Laurie Sweet, all of Ottumwa, Iowa; and Morgan Garcia of Woodward, OK; and, many other relatives.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, December 21, 2018, at Humphrey Chapel. Rev. Naomi Rogers and Rev. Roy Beth Kelly will officiate. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery in Tilley, Arkansas, by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer Association National Headquarters, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
