NAMON/NAHUM C. COREY

(12 Jan 1851 - )

He is found in the 1861 and 1881 census for Havelock NB, and apparently farmed at Salem in that Parish. The death of his wife is especially tragic. She was carrying her last child, and had returned to her parents for the lying in.

The newspaper report reads:

died Salem (Albert Co. [sic]) 27 [Jan 1883] Rubina Corey, w/o Naaman Corey, and d/o Robert Saunders of above. She left her home in Canaan about four weeks ago, to vist her father and mother, and while on that visit the Master called her to rest. She had a strong impression when leaving home that she would not return. She professed religion some years ago and united with the church at Butternut Ridge. She left a husband and three children, one an infant only two weeks old.

It seems that after his first wife's death, Namon removed to Portland Maine, where he remarried in 1892. No further information on children by this second marriage.
