The 1861 census gives his age as 5, or born about 1856. The 1891 census gives his age as 34, or born about 1857. In 1901 he gave his date of birth as 27 Sep 1852, or 49. The first date is considered most accurate, and is also the one which appears on his headstone. He farmed at Coles Island NB, where he is found in the 1891 census as a bachelor, living alone. By 1901 he had married a widow, Annie Stilwell, with one daughter, Addie Stilwell, by her first marriage, Addie's date of birth is given as 16 Mar 1881, aged 19 in 1901. There were no children to the marriage of Alonzo and Annie. A headstone in Coles Island Cemetery reads, "Annie S. Corey, 1852-1929; Alonzo Corey 1856-1927; Jan Corey Fowler." [Corey Book]
