JAMES CARTER

(10 May 1823 - 12 Nov 1903)

James was born in the Parish of Rerrick, Kirkcudbright County, Scotland and came to New Brunswick, Canada when he was eight years of age. When he was twenty years old he married Sarah Jane Atkinson. It is believed that his father Robert, moved in with his brother and wife Elsie up Tweedie Brook Road in Kouchibouguac and James bought the house on Carter Hill sometime after 1855. On January 25, 1858 James was granted 100 acres of land next to his brother Robert, up Tweedie Brook Road.
