STUART CHAPIN GODFREY

Fremont Rider book: Educated at Milford schools, Phillips Exeter Academy and West Point. Served is Lt. of engineers at Panama Canal, Mississippi River, etc. In World War I became col. of an engineer regt. Was also on Headquarters staff. Taught at West Point and at the graduate army school at Fort Leavenworth. Was engineer officer at Boston, Washington and other places. In World War II became a general in charge of the aviation engineering detachment. Served all over the world but particularly in Indo-China. Was killed, with all his staff, in an airplane crash just after the war ended.
