SULPHUR - Thomas Edgar Mitchell Jr., known to all as Tommy, born Jan. 24, 1930, to Edgar and Edna Mitchell, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, in a local hospital.
Survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Hoffpauir Mitchell of Sulphur; two daughters, Debby Thomason and her husband, Bill, and Marla Stine and her husband, Dennis, all of Lake Charles; one daughter-in-law, Patsy Mitchell of Humble, Texas; nine grandchildren, Jill Thomason Noel and her husband, Jay, of Baton Rouge, Jennifer Thomason Barton and her husband, Jason, of Nashville, Laurie Stine of St. Francisville, and Jason Stine, Jana Stine and Ben Stine, all of Lake Charles, Scott Mitchell of Austin, Texas, Kurt Mitchell and Micah Mitchell of Humble, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Jana Noel and Josh Noel, both of Baton Rouge; and his sister, Catherine Drost of Lake Charles; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Mitchell of Humble, Texas; and his sister, Evelyn Perry of Sulphur. His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Leon Boggs will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles. Visitation is from 8:30 a.m. today. (LCAP 27 Oct 2002)
