Name Prefix:<NPFX> Rev. BIOGRAPHY: He was born an Eisenhauer. In t he 1850 Lowe r Paxton Township, Dalphine County Census, he was liste d as John Frederick Isen hour. Thereafter, the spelling is Eisenhower . In 1854, he built a nine-room b rick house at 530 West Main Street , Elizabethville. It was insured against fir e with Lykens Valley Mut ual Fire Insurance Company, which is still in business at 8 West Mai n Street. All of his children were born in Elizabethville, Pennsy lva nia. He was devoutly religious, and like most Eisenhauer's of the day , was Lutheran. He changed to the Church of the Brethren in Christ, t he Faith of his wife, when they married. He became very active in it s activities. The family 's nine room home doubled as a place of worsh ip where the Rev. Eisenhower preac hed to his flock. He was an acclai med orator who delivered his sermons in Germ an. He did not take par t in the Civil War, but greatly admired President Linco ln. Jacob an d his father migrated to Dickinson County, Kansas in 1879 where th e y became leaders in the River Brethren Settlement, a Mennonite Sect, n ear Abil ene. This denomination was formed in Pennsylvania in 1770 am ong Swiss immigran ts who lived along the Susquehanna River.
