George Martz or Marchel as he was also know n, made black powder for several ye ars for the militia. Wile living i n Frederick County, Maryland. On May 1, 1778 , he was drafted and eve ntually requested a substitute to serve for him. Georg e later move d to the Tuscarora area of Frederick County. George owned several tra cks of land, "Markers Delight", 296 acres, "Reeking", 50 acres, resurv ey on "Masons Folly", 65 acres, "Wide Brake", 77 acres, "Isaac Range" , over 100 acre s. George Martz sold Markers Delight to Michael Wac hter on November 26, 1800 , 296 acres for 650 lbs. This land was in F rederick County.
