BIOGRAPHY: It is said the Friesenhahn's had some wealth in Hungary. Jo hn held some type of Government job for 30 years in the courthouse. Da ughter Clara tol d her daughter Mary Jochum that the family had been g iven some land in the Bana t area by Queen Maria Theresa of Hungary an d Bohemia who ruled from 1740 to 178 0. It was said that the Queen ga ve the land with the proviso that it be homest eaded and trees be plan ted. The land they owned was "across the river" (presum ably in Tomis orara).
