Once when so desperate for food, Aunt Sophronia just younger than Emil iy and little brother Julius Pinckney went into the woods to see if th ey could find anything at all to use for food, they ran into an old, p oor sow tha was as nearly starved as were the Killebrews. They gave c hase and being in such a weakened condition, the poor sow soon gave u p and was captured by Fronia and Jule. Well, she was too big and stub born--they couldn't kill her, so managed to pull and drag her to a cre ek nearby. They then held her head under the water until she was drow ned. They both sat on her head. Her body was so poor, it kept flyin g up out of the water, which I gues made it easier to kill the poor br ute. Jule ran to get grandmother who came with an axe and knife to cu t up the carcass and they carried it home. Grandma Emilly said the me at was ony fit to make soup. But it sustained life for quite awhile.
