James Madi son Folkner, son of David and Cecelia (Grissel) Folkne r was born in Lafayette T ownship, September 3, 1855, and departed thi s life on June 8, 1934, at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 5 days . Death was due to complications. He had been failing in health fo r several years. Uncle Jim, as he was commonly called, gr ew to manho od near the same spot where he was born. While yet a young man he a c cepted Christ as his savior and he was baptized into the church at Spl inter Ri dge, later moving his membership to Mt. Calvary where he rema ined until death. About 52 years ago he was united in marriage to Lav ina Willey. To this happy union were born three children Edward of La -Feria, Texas, Chloe of Villa Grove, Ill, and Ina Inez, who died in i nfancy. Besides the immediate family he leave s to mourn their loss t welve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom he love d as dearly as his own. Uncle Jim was very patient during his gre a t suffering. Several times calling upon the Lord to help him and as king Him to take him unto his care and keeping. He was a well-respec ted neighbor and frie nd. Always ready to sacrifice for the good of o thers. He will be sadly missed by those who knew him best.
