Betty Sue Tinsley, 84, of Troy, Missouri, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2018 at her residence in Troy, Missouri. She was born on September 23, 1933 in Sikeston, Missouri, a daughter of the late Abbott and Lizzie (Briles) Townsend. Betty was united in marriage to Calvin Tinsley on May 14, 1952 in Arkansas and were blessed with one son and one daughter. Calvin preceded her in death on August 5th, 2012.
Betty graduated from Alton High School in 1951. She was a homemaker and her family was her top priority. Betty enjoyed being outdoors and walking to the neighbor’s pond. She liked reading especially the Janet Evanovich series.
She is survived by her one daughter and one son: Dennis Tinsley and wife Debby of Troy, MO and Deborah Hammett and husband Delane of Silex, MO; one sister, Cora Voyles of Winona, MO; two grandchildren: Adrienne Doebelin (Travis) and Amanda Sitton (Nick); one step grandson: Daniel Hammett (Holly); five great-grandchildren: Alexis, Brianna, Christian, Isabelle and Bryce; three step-grandchildren: Taylor, Evan and Andy; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Abbott and Lizzie, her husband, Calvin, one sister Lois Weaver, one brother, Jim Townsend, one brother-in-law, Buddy Voyles, two step-grandchildren: Dean and Darren Hammett and one great-grandson, Brenden Doebelin.
Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at KEMPER-MILLARD-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel, located at 351 Monroe Street Troy, MO 63379. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at KEMPER-MILLARD-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel. Officiating the service will be Rick Ingersoll. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation in care of KEMPER-MILLARD-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 222 Troy, MO 6337
