Death
Thurman Hillary Whitaker, 83, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at his residence.A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, July 30, 2011, at West Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ray Swaney officiating.
A native of Guilford County, NC, Mr. Whitaker was born October 26, 1927. He was the son of the late Banner Hillary Whitaker and Della Boucher Whitaker. He attended High Rock Baptist Church and was retired from B.B. Walker Shoe Company after 36 years of service.
Mr. Whitaker is survived by his wife of 48 years, Doris Whitaker, of the home; sons, Tony Whitaker and wife, Robin, of Randleman, NC, Terry Whitaker and wife, Tina, of Asheboro, NC; sisters, Myrtle Nance, Bertha Kirkman, both of Asheboro; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 pm Friday, July 29, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home.
