Death

Doris Marie Small Whitaker, 82, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at High Point Medical Center in High Point.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Destination Heaven, 1796 Old County Farm Road, Sophia, NC, 27350, with Pastor Benny Smith officiating. Burial will follow at West Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Born July 17, 1936, in Randolph Co., NC, Mrs. Whitaker was the daughter of the late Lindsay and Lizzie Tysinger Small. She was a lady full of love and laughter who would do anything for anybody. She loved children and babysitting, but most of all loved her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Thurman Whitaker.

Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her sons, Tony Whitaker and Terry Whitaker, both of Asheboro; sisters, Thelma Harris, Ruth Wilson, Edith "Cookie" Cutshaw, all of Asheboro; brother, Buck Small of Asheboro; grandchildren, T.J. Whitaker, LeAnn Phillips, Amber Wilson, Stacey Hussey, Terri Cardwell, Dustin Whitaker, Calob Whitaker; 16 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
