Individual Details

Narcissa Barron

(1822 - )

1860 CENSUS
In the 1860 US Census, Narcissa and her family were enumerated on September 8, 1860 as living in Winston County, Mississippi (page 94, line 31). She was listed as 38 years of age and the head of the household, a farmer, with the value of her real estate worth $4,000 and the value of her personal estate as $16,000.

The above figures correspond closely to the final values established on the estate of Narcissa's deceased husband, John Childress. John died in January of 1860, so Narcissa (or Narcisly, as the court papers read) was just starting out as a "new" farmer when the census was taken.

As noted on the family page, Narcissa soon found a new husband, John L. Bell, whom she married in 1862. See the notes accompanying John Childress for information on the settling of the estate of John Childress, who died at the age of 38 years.
