Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2004, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Avon, for Frances A. Budde, 103, who died peacefully at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home, Albany, on Sunday, March 7, 2004. Rev. Blane Wasnie, O.S.B. and Rev. Lloyd Haupt will concelebrate. Interment will be at St. Benedict's Parish Cemetery, Avon. Arrangements are by the Williams Funeral Home, Avon. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the Williams Funeral Home, Avon, and also after 10 a.m. on Thursday morning at the church. Christian Women will pray at 6:30 p.m. and parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Frances was born on October 20, 1900, in Melrose to the late Joseph and Bernadine (Kerfeld) Moening. She married Ben Budde on October 12, 1920, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Melrose. She farmed with her husband south of Avon and moved to Avon in 1988. Frances loved quilting, gardening, playing cards and the company of her family and friends. Frances will be remembered for being the Grand Marshall of the Avon Centennial Parade in 2000.
Frances is survived by her children, Cyril (Elenor), Avon, Bob (Ella), Albany, Ralph (Marge), Avon, Rita (Bill) Ryan, Plymouth, Yvonne (Art) Diedrich, Avon, Mary Ann (Ed) Waletzko, Waite Park, and Corrine (Dave) Szafranski, St. Cloud; daughters-in-law, DeLores Budde, Avon and Donna Budde, St. Joseph; 52 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Ben on Dec. 20, 1954; children, Jean, Alvin and Art; four brothers; and four sisters.
