Joseph passed away Monday, December 15, 2003 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2003 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Father Mark Innocenti officiating. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Rice, MN. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at the Brenny Funeral Home (West Chapel) in Little Falls, MN. Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 4:30 p.m., Parish Prayers at 6:00 p.m., and Knights of Columbus Office of the Dead at 7: 30 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9:00 a.m. until the service hour on Thursday at the Funeral Home.
Joseph "Joe" Sauer was born on June 20, 1929 in Rice, MN to the late Thaddeus and Amelia (Schneider) Sauer. He graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud. He married Lucille Kerfeld on September 17, 1953 at Sacred Heart Church in Freeport, MN. Joe was employed at Coborn's for many years. He was active in the community, most notably with the Little Falls city government. He was the Mayor for four years and a city Councilman for 28 years. He was a member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus. Joe was also a member of Crosier Apostalate.
He is survived by his wife: Lucille Sauer of Little Falls, MN; daughter: Cynthia Bartos and husband Dean of Maple Plain, MN; sons: Randy Sauer and wife Donna of Plymouth, MN, Tim Sauer and wife Tresa of Robbinsdale, MN, Scott and Thad Sauer of Eagan, MN; sisters: Barbara Sauer of St. Cloud, MN, and Rose Dullinger of Rockville, MN; brothers: Claude Sauer of Rapid City, SD, and Lawrence Sauer of Staples, MN; and 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Mathilda Fiedler, Ann Janski, and Margaret Sauer; brothers: William and Philip Sauer. Casket Bearers will be Tony, Nichole, Amelia, Leslie, and Graham Sauer, Jason, Justin, and Jessica Bartos. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home (West Chapel) in Little Fails, MN.
