Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich for Herman J. Brickweg, who died on Sunday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. Roger Klassen, OSB will officiate, with burial at St. Benedict's Cemetery in Avon. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Melrose.
Herman Brickweg was born in St. Martin Township, Stearns County, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Middendorf) Brickweg. He was united in marriage to Adeline Kortenbusch on October 26,1944, in Melrose. He was employed as a mechanic at Purity Milk Company in St. Cloud, retiring in 1981. Herman enjoyed fishing, card playing, and was an avid fan of amateur baseball.
He is survived by his children, Dave Brickweg (Rosie) of Richmond, Jack Brickweg of Avon, Carol Euerle (Merle) of Richmond, Mike Brickweg (Susan) of Montevideo and Dan Brickweg (Kim) of Melrose; brother and sisters, Joseph Brickweg (Mary) of Blaine, Marie Christen of Melrose, Rita Loxtercamp of Meire Grove and Florence Schurman of Sauk Centre; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Adeline who died in 1982; brother, Tom Brickweg and one granddaughter.
