Dear Agnes and fanily
We were so glad to get your letter and hear that you folk's are all well. We certainly would love to see your family, and also wish it could be possible to visit you now and them. But maybe some day we hope it will be possible to come and see you folks. Thank's so much for expressing your best wishes on our anniversary and my birthday. For our anniversary Dan gave me a beautiful yellow gold Bulova watch. "Goddess of Time.) It surely don"t seem as though we have been married three yrs. Time passes so swiftly it seem's. Did you folk's celebrate the 4th, yesterday? We stayed home all day. Went for a nice long walk last nite. Didn't even care to take the car out on account of countless accident's. The traffic is really terrible here in San Diego. people seem to be coming in droves, all this defense work is the reason. The housing situation was begining to be a problem until the gov't did some thing about it. No matter where one looks you see new houses going up. I don't know what this town will look like when this war is over with, work undoudtly will slow up for many people will move away. Houses will just stand empty I guess. Gee I'd give any thing if we had a place to grow our own vegetables and fruit and a few chicken's. Food prices have gone up quite a bit. Eggs are forty cents a dozen, butter is .45 a lbsmilk .13 qt. But I guess that all goes with war. Well folks I guess I'll have to quit and do my marketing and also get this letter mailed. Please write us again soon
love Polly
