Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Lauretta C. Jansen, age 79 of St. Cloud who died at home Monday. Reverend Timothy Wenzel will officiate. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Friday, April 2 at Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Christian Women will pray at 6:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Lauretta was born on April 19, 1924 in Grove Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Nicholaus and Susana (Kulzer) Caspers. She loved being in 4-H Club plays. Lauretta attended Drew's Business College in St. Cloud and after became a secretary at the St. Cloud Business College. She married Arthur M. Jansen on Nov. 28, 1946 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Cloud. She lived in St. Cloud all of her married life. She worked as a tour guide at Stearns History Museum. Lauretta was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Anthony's Choir, St. Anthony's Christian Women, and the MCCL. Lauretta was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. Her grandchildren will especially miss her witty sense of humor. She loved to travel, she visited every state in the U.S and several countries abroad.
She is survived by her children, Mary Ellen (Kurtis) Anderson of Chanhassen, MN Marjorie (Bruce) Kintz of Idyllwild, CA, Lois (Pat) Riley of Joliet, IL, Suzanne Jansen of Idyllwild, CA, Jean (Michael) Schaefer of Buffalo, MN, Patrick Jansen of St. Cloud, MN, and Jacquelyn (Ken) Lierman of Zimmerman, MN; 15 grandchildren; one great grandchild; brothers, John (Bert) of Melrose, MN, Ray (Ginger) of Chula Vista, CA, Alcuin (Celine) of Melrose, MN, and Luverne of St. Cloud; sisters, Eileen (John) Cremers of Baxter, MN; and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur in April of 2002; brother, Norbert; sisters, Reneta Caspers, Marian McCarthy, and Sr. Howard, OSB. Arrangements are with Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
