Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud, for Arthur M. Jansen, who died Friday at his home in St. Cloud. Reverend Robert Harren will officiate. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery with full military honors provided by St. Cloud VFW Granite Post #428. Friends may call from 4:00- 9:00 p.m. on Monday April 15, 2002 at Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday. St. Cloud VFW Granite Post #428 will pray at 6:30 p.m. followed by Parish Prayers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Arthur M. "Art" Jansen was born on January 14, 1922 in St. Cloud to Nicholas and Carolla (Kiefler) Jansen. The family lived in St. Cloud, and Clear Lake before settling in Park Rapids, where Art attended school. Art worked on the family farm in Park Rapids until he was drafted to the US Army were he was a sergeant with the 527th Engineer Light Ponton Company serving in three major battles; crossing the Rhine, Central Germany, and The Battle of the Bulge. Upon his return, Art met Lauretta Caspers to whom he was united in marriage on November 28, 1946 at the Holy Angels Church in St. Cloud. The couple built a home and resided in St. Cloud. Art worked as an automobile mechanic for twenty years with Nash Motor Company, Litchy Motor Company, and Miller Pontiac. He retired from Miller Pontiac after twenty-five years as a salesman. Art was a member of St. Cloud VFW Granite Post #428, the St. Cloud Chapter of The National Woodcarvers Association, and St. Anthony's Parish. Art was also active with Boy Scout Troop #5. And loved to play the harmonica for family and friends.

Art is survived by his wife, Lauretta, and seven children; Mary Ellen Anderson, Marjorie Kintz, Lois Riley, Suzanne Jansen, Jean Schaefer, Patrick Jansen, and Jacquelyn Lierman, 15 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. One brother, Alvin and one sister Genevieve Hansen also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers and sisters, Pauline, Roman, Olivia, George, and Lorene.
