Isidore Mehr, age 78, a resident of Pierz, MN, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2001, at St. Joseph¹s Hospital in Brainerd, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2001, at St. Joseph¹s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN, with Father Gerald Dalseth and Father Ken Brenny con-celebrating. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2001, at the Brenny Funeral Home in Pierz, MN. Christian Mothers and the Pierz Lions will pray the rosary at 4:30 p.m. followed by Parish Prayers at 7:00 p.m., and Knights of Columbus Office of the Dead at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will be honor guard at the visitation. Visitation will also be from 8:00 a.m. until the service hour on Monday at the Funeral Home.
Isidore Mehr was born on January 24, 1923, in St. Martin, MN, to the late John and Mary (Welle) Mehr. He was a paratrooper, 101st airborne in World War II. Isidore was united in marriage to Irene Zimmermann on November 21, 1946, in Frankfurt, Germany. Irene passed away on July 20, 1985.
He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 33 years. After retirement, he became a Brookfield Uniforms Representative.
He later married Virginia Korf on November 28, 1986. Virginia passed away on October 16, 1988. Isidore was a member of St. Joseph¹s Parish in Pierz, MN, Catholic Order of Foresters, the American Legion, and a life member in the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. MI was also a member of National Association of Letter Carriers for 48 years. Isidore enjoyed traveling, casinos, sports, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Patty Sass and husband Brad of Robbinsdale, MN, Robert Mehr of East Bethel, MN, Steven Mehr and wife Kathy of Yorktown, VA, and Kathy Engle and husband Todd of Chaska, MN; stepchildren, LeEtta Flicker and husband Loren of New Brighton, MN, Neil Korf and wife Mary of Pierz, MN, Larry Korf and wife Jo of Genola, MN, and Annie Korf of Oregon; his brother, Hubert Mehr of Mankato, MN; sister, Marie Worms of New Munich, MN; his dear friend Addie Dion of Pierz, MN, and 18 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; brothers, Jack, George, Joseph, Father Henry, Father Al, and Father Chris; sister, Elizabeth Doll; and infant sister, Mary.
Casket Bearers will be his grandchildren.
Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home in Pierz, MN.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society.
