Hubert L. Hinnenkamp, age 80 of Brooten, died unexpectedly Monday, April 23, 2007, at his residence in Brooten. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m., on Thursday, April 26, at St. Donatus Catholic Church in Brooten with Father Jeffery Ethan officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Hubert Lawrence Hinnenkamp was born on Feb. 28, 1927, in Melrose, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Schmiesing) Hinnenkamp. He attended District 73 country school in rural Melrose where he graduated from the eighth grade. Hubert was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose.
On May 26, 1952, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rose Moscho, at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin. To this union four girls and two boys were born. The coupled moved to the farm in rural Padua in 1952 where they raised their family and farmed. In 1984 they retired and moved into Brooten where Hubert drove school bus for eight years. Hubert was a member of St. Donatus Catholic Church in Brooten. He was a member of Catholic Aid and many Senior Center card clubs. Hubert enjoyed organizing monthly trips to the casino and loved to fish. His family will remember him as an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; children, Debbie (Ken) Beste of Sauk Centre, Bonnie (Duane) Winter of Brooten, Bruce (Lois) Hinnenkamp of Brooten, Yvonne (Todd) Switajewski of Pine River, and Karla (Scott) Edenloff of Osakis; 22 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; siblings, Leona Blenker of Melrose, Lydia Beuning of Melrose, Marion Tooley of Prinville Ore., Fred Hinnenkamp of Little Sauk, Ernest (Marcella) Hinnenkamp of Melrose, Ida (Frank) Pung of El Paso, Texas, Jeanette Zehrer of Melrose, Jim (Donna) Hinnenkamp of Maynard; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
