Gerald Aloysius Sultenfuss

(October 22, 1923 - January 18, 2009)

SULTENFUSS, Gerald A., 85, a lifelong resident of Tampa entered into rest January 18, 2009. Gerald was of the Catholic faith and a graduate of Jesuit High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II on the USS Santa Fe, which received 13 battle stars. He also received a presidential unit citation.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gerald A. Sultenfuss Jr.; daughter, Ann Marie Sultenfuss; brother, William Sultenfuss; and sister, Genevieve Quigley.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Magdalen; sons, Edward and wife, Denise, and Joseph and wife, Gina; daughters, Janet O' Neill and husband, Joe, Mary Edgerton and husband, Roy, and Diane Thomas and husband Stan; grandchildren, Denise Fisher, Jesse, Noah, Cole, Dustin and Aaron Bellamy, John, Mark, and Elizabeth Edgerton and Tiffany Sultenfuss; stepgrand-children, April Posten, Kasey Kim, Abigail, Nicole and Paul Thomas; stepgreat-grandson, Brendan Kim; brothers, John and Vincent Sultenfuss; sister, Mary Nydegger; numerous nieces and nephews; and loyal German Shepherd, Dixie.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2009, at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 10110 Central Ave., Tampa, with interment to follow in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m., Thursday at Marsicano-B. Marion Reed-Stowers Funeral Home, 4040 Henderson Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Jesuit High School, 4701 N.
