Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Mary I. Taufen, age 88 of St. Cloud, will be 10:30 AM Saturday, June 11 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Mary died Saturday at the St. Benedicts Senior Community. There will be a visitation from 4-8:00 PM Friday, June 10 at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud, and then again after 9:30 AM Saturday at the church. St. Anthony parish prayers will be at 5:00 PM Friday, at the funeral home.
Mary was born May 7, 1923 in Foley, MN to Leo and Helen (Kuffel) Buttweiler. Her family lived in several communities in central Minnesota while Mary was growing up. Mary entered the U.S. Navy Waves in 1945, serving as a Pharmacist mate until 1947. On October 17, 1954, she married Robert Taufen in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. The couple lived in several states before returning to St. Cloud in 1977. Robert died in 1979. Mary enjoyed reading, listening to music and watching movies. She was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church and was active in the church funeral choir.
Mary is survived by her brother, Pat (Renee) Buttweiler, St. Cloud; her brother-in-law, Father Daniel Taufen, Sauk Rapids and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert; her sisters and brother, Gizella Castiglione, Alma Baum and Earl Buttweiler.
