The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Helen Ebensteiner, age 77 of Albany will be 11:00 AM Monday, August 10 at the church of the Seven Dolors in Albany. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Helen died peacefully Thursday evening at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home. There will be a visitation from 4-8:00 PM Sunday at the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Albany and again after 10:00 AM Monday at the church. Seven Dolors parish prayers will be at 4:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home in Albany.

Helen was born July 18, 1932 in St. Anthony to Albert and Mary (Stueve) Ostendorf. She married Anthony “Tony” Ebensteiner on September 26, 1950 in St. Anthony. Helen and Tony lived on a farm near Albany before moving to St. Cloud in 1973 where they would reside until 2004. They chose to “return home” to Albany and live at the assisted living apartments at Mother of Mercy in 2004. Helen spent most of her life as a homemaker caring for her children and grandchildren. Helen was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. She was employed at the Kelly Inn for a short period while living in St. Cloud. Tony and Helen spent many memorable days on the lake together fishing and many more at “the farm” of Tony’s sister, Doreen and her husband Ron. Helen battled her entire life with emotional issues stemming from her bi-polar disorder. She is now resting in peace with Tony in heaven to suffer no more.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Doris Applegate, St. Cloud; Mary Jane (Robert) Aldrich, Stillwater; Renee (Todd) Eskelson, Cold Spring; Joni (Jack) Hennen, Watkins; Joyce (Dave) O’Hara, Rockville; her sons, David (Millie)Ebensteiner Albany; Duane (Elaine) Ebensteiner, Albany; Daniel (Tammie) Ebensteiner, Albany; and Dennis (Vera) Ebensteiner, Rockville. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Lorraine Kroska, Sartell; Ervin Ostendorf, Pierz; Herb Ostendorf, Sartell; Raymond Ostendorf, Kandiohyi; Jerry Ostendorf, Spicer; Roger Ostendorf, St. Cloud; Eugene Ostendorf, Holdingford; Rita Lomheim, Avon; Evie Mohs, Waite Park; Werner Ostendorf, Freeport, Eddie Ostendorf, Sartell; 23 grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren on the way.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tony on Nov 7, 2006; her brothers Tony and Wally Ostendorf and her sister, Millie Gillitzer. Helen’s family would like their extended family at Mother of Mercy Campus of Care to know how much we appreciate all of you for the unconditional loving care you provided for our mother. She loved being a part of your family and truly felt at home. We would also like to thank Dr. Dean Watkins and his staff at the Centracare clinic for the many years of wonderful care provided to Helen and her family. Helen’s final days were calm and pain free thanks to the dedication and care of the Albany Area Hospice staff. Our grateful thanks to all of you.
