Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grey Eagle, for LaVerne M. Roering, 64, who died Tuesday in St. Thomas, Tijuana, Mexico. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Ward Springs. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Sauk Centre. Christian Mothers will pray at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home followed by parish prayers at 8.
LaVerne Roering was born in Melrose to Henry and Wilemina (Schulte) Rolfes. She married Donald C. Roering on Aug. 18, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Freeport. They farmed near Freeport from 1956 to 1964. The couple then moved to Sauk Centre, where they farmed in Birchdale Township, Todd County. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her husband; children, Gary, Mike, Diane Muellner and Jerry of Sauk Centre, and Cathy Dunmire of Alexandria; brothers and sisters, Amandus of Freeport, Alice Silbernick of Richmond, Harvey of Minneapolis, Anthony of Brainerd and Alcuin of Annandale; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her son, Randy on Sept. 9, 1986; and sisters and brothers, Delores Schwartz, Marcella Westbrock, Gerald, Marie and Allen.
