Theresa M. (Terry) Egeland, age 89 of Sauk Centre, died Saturday, Feb.14, 2009, at her home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Pastor Becky Thomas officiating. Inurnment was at St. Paul's Cemetery in Sauk Centre.
Terry was born Dec. 5, 1919, in Elrosa to Joseph and Anna (Hens) Evens. She was united in marriage to Willard Egeland on July 3, 1942, in St. Cloud. After Willard was discharged from the army in 1945, they settled in Milwaukee, Wis. for the next 15 years. They moved to Marshfield, Wis., in 1960 and then to Tacoma, Wash. in 1962. In 1964 they moved to Minneapolis where Willard worked until he retired in 1974 from Weyerhaeuser Lumber Company after 28 years of service. In 1974 they moved to Sauk Centre where they enjoyed their retirement. Terry was a member of First Lutheran Church. Terry's passion in life was her sewing. She helped her daughter-in-law, Lois Egeland, sew custom drapes for 33 years. She enjoyed sewing mission quilts with the ladies at her church. She also sewed, did patching and made alterations every day for her family and many friends including the day she died.
Terry is survived by her son Barry (Lois) Egeland of Sauk Centre and her daughter, Janet (Jerry) Robbins of Cedar; brothers, Henry Evens of Sauk Centre and Anthony (Jack) Evens of Peewaukee, Wis.; sister, Bette Boutwell of DeWitt, Mich.; grandchildren, Kris, Jeff, Greg, Darin, Lori and Sara; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Shayna, Faith, Josh, Braeden, Anna, Brenna, Emma and Robert.
Terry was preceded in death by her husband, Willard in 2001; parents, Joseph and Anna Evens; brothers, John Evens, Frank Evens, Math Evens and Chris Evens; sisters, Ann Veeder, Marie Johnson and Ceal Peter. Urn bearer was Sara Galloway. Cross bearer was Lori Althaus. Picture bearer was Kris Harrington.
