Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church for Herbert Stang, 76, who died Saturday at Paynesville Area Hospital.Burial will be in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Paynesville.Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Wenner Funeral Home and two hours before services Wednesday at the church in Paynesville. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Richmond followed by St. Louis Council Knights of Columbus, Paynesville Area Seniors and Catholic Aid rosary at 8:30.
Herbert Stang was born in St. Martin to John and Helena (Schlangen) Stang. He farmed near St. Martin all his life. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, St. Louis Council Knights of Columbus, Catholic Aid and Paynesville Area Seniors.
Survivors include children, Harvey of Catheys Valley, Calif., Roger of Sonora, Calif., Mary Stoltman of Silver Lake, Dave of Watertown, Victor of Delano, and Nancy Olson of Hanover; brothers and sisters, Arnold of St. Martin, Cordelia Obermiller and Clarence of St. Cloud, and Cecilia Harris of St. Joseph; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Martha Hieserich, Sister Colette, Tresa Schaefer and Sister Brigetta; and one granddaughter.
