Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Rosemary F. Schmidt, 76, of Albany will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2009 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis. Fr. Dale Ettel will officiate and burial will take place in the church cemetery. Rosemary died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Albany Area Hospital. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Friday, January 2, 2009 at the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Albany and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Parish prayers will be 6 PM Friday at the funeral home followed by Christian Mothers at 7 PM. Arrangements by the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Albany.
Rosemary was born June 15, 1932 a daughter of John and Eleanor (Stueve) Stangler. She married Lawrence Schmidt on July 7, 1954 in Albany. The couple lived and farmed near Albany for two years, then moved to a farm north of Freeport where they lived for 40 years until 1996 when they moved to Melrose. Her husband preceded her in death on May 10, 2000. In 2000, Rosemary moved to Albany. Rosemary was a homemaker most of her lifetime and was also employed at Jennie-O-Foods, and as a cook at Charlies Cafe. Rosemary enjoyed sewing, doing embroidery work, doing volunteer work at the school and nursing home, and spending time with her grandchildren. Rosemary was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and St. Francis Cabrini Group.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Denise) Schmidt, Melrose, Karen (friend, Dale Boppre) Linn, Coleraine, and Mary Jo (friend, Wally Brever) Schmidt, Long Prairie, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; three brothers, John and Ambrose Stangler, Albany, and Al Stangler, Monticello; two sisters, Fran Blommel, Albany, and Lorraine Binderim, Wichita, KS; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter and brother; three brothers, Jerome, Elmer, and Sylvester Stangler; and one sister, Magdalein Schmidt.
