Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Marie F. Lauer, age 84, of Paynesville who died peacefully on Sunday. Burial will take place in the St. Louis Parish Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. on Wednesday (TODAY) at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville. St. Louis Catholic Aid, Christian Women and St. Catherines Mission Group will pray at 4:30 p.m. and Parish Prayers will be at 7 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday after 10 a.m. at the church.
Marie was born November 11, 1921 near St. Martin, MN to Christopher and Susan (Mehr) Spanier. She married Clarence Lauer on February 9, 1946 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin. They farmed north of Paynesville most of their lives. She will be remembered for her volunteer work in the Paynesville community for which she received several awards including the Lions Club Citizen of the Year and the Ruth Aulick Award for her community service. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Catholic Aid, Christian Women and St. Catherines Mission Group.
Marie is survived by her children David (Carolyn Toots) Lauer of Paynesville, Barbara Lauer of Eden Prairie, Dan Lauer of Willmar and Brenda (Russ) Bursch of Des Moines, Iowa, grandchildren Nolan and Tess Bursch and Julie Bastin, great granddaughter Sarah Bastin and brothers Leo Spanier of Cold Spring, Nick Spanier of Luxemburg and Joe Spanier of Cold Spring.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Clarence (1982), infant children, grandson Daniel Meyer, brothers Al, Math, Jake, John and Mike Spanier and sisters Hilda Stang and Veronica Lenzmeier.
