Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Alfred R. Ebnet, 92, who died Saturday at his home.Burial will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Holdingford Senior Citizens will pray at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the church in Holdingford followed by parish prayers at 7 and St. Joseph's Society at 8:30. The 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus also will have an honor guard from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Arrangements were made by Brenny Funeral Home in Holdingford.
Alfred Ebnet was born in Krain Township, Stearns County, to Frank and Elizabeth (Vos) Ebnet. He married Regina Muyres on May 15, 1929, in St. Mary's Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on June 29, 1974. He married Walburga Barhorst on Nov. 9, 1974, in St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Society, of which he was treasurer; 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus St. Isidore Council 9307, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Queen of Peace General Assembly 3628 and Crosier Apostolate. He had received the Bishop's Medal. He also was a member of Holdingford Senior Citizens and prepared meals for senior citizens for 10 years. He farmed in the Holdingford area for 40 years, retiring in 1968 and moving to Holdingford. He was a past member of the Holding Town Board, Farmers Shipping Association, Co-op Creamery, telephone board, local Red Cross and local school board.
Survivors include his wife; sons and daughters, Cyril, Lloyd and Linus of Albany, Jerome of Holdingford, Carol Waldoch of Little Falls, and Alice Maine of Avon; stepdaughters and stepsons, Louella Hechtel of St. Cloud, Irene Kostreba of Elk River, Marie Hoppe and Bernard Barhorst of Holdingford, and Ralph Barhorst of St. Stephen; 29 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Roman of Long Prairie, and Clara Donnelly, Anna 'Lena' Domenico, Joseph, John and Elmer of Holdingford.
He was preceded in death by sister and brothers, Mary Zeis, Leo 'Curly,' Ambrose 'Lefty,' George, Nicholas and Raymond; and one granddaughter.
